Werewolves

The 2024 French film Werewolves, a fantasy comedy based on the board game “The Werewolves of Thiercelieux,” is available on Netflix.

I don’t want to spoil the film’s plot, especially for those who want to see it. However, I’ll briefly summarize that the story is about a family who travels back in time and becomes the protagonists of a live-action role-playing game in which the inhabitants may be hiding dark secrets.

Personally, the film struck me as a mix between the old “Jumanji” and “All We Have to Do Is Cry,” but beyond my personal opinion, I’d like to try and write these few lines because the film was recommended to us by one of our PUM-CUAV users, a perpetrator of violent behavior.

This aspect is important and noteworthy because it means that this person, with all his mistakes and errors, seems to have succeeded, in my humble opinion, in seeing the things around him with new eyes, gender-specific eyes, and in becoming aware.

What do I mean?

I want to emphasize the fact that this person, having to undergo a re-education program with us, received certain notions, information, and input during the meetings that allowed him to begin to identify certain themes discussed within the group room, also and especially outside, in everyday life and more specifically in a film. Thus, he was able to become more aware and generalize these aspects to his surroundings, thus perhaps beginning to see everyday things with new, gender-specific eyes.

Of course, it’s not salvation, and it’s not enough!

But this small aspect can perhaps be the beginning, a probable, possible sign of hope.
The film shows how women were treated in the Middle Ages and what happened to those women, whether they were “dissidents” or simply thought differently from the masses.
I recommend watching it for anyone who wants to explore these issues.
